We want to apologize and clarify our earlier post about the student walkouts in Charlotte, NC. While tons and tons of students took part in the protests, we overlooked the fact that some students aren’t staying home to make a statement, some are staying home out of fear. And it’s not only immigrant students. U.S.-born students, legal citizens, are also afraid because of how severe the Trump-era escalation has become. The videos and stories circulating online have only heightened that fear. No student should ever feel unsafe or afraid to attend school because of their own government.
