Another Trump Pardon: Another Crime – Shocking, Right?
Well well well, let’s check in on the “law and order” MAGA crowd. This week’s star: Christopher Moynihan, a January 6 rioter pardoned by Trump so he could, apparently, graduate from trashing Congress to plotting assassination. And I say “star” with all the sarcasm I can muster for a guy who straight-up texted that he wanted to murder House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. That’s right—the guy whom Trump personally released from prison with his blanket “all-aboard” pardon train immediately went full domestic terrorist. It’s like giving matches to an arsonist already on fire.
Crime Recap: Spoiler – It Wasn’t Antifa
Let’s review: Moynihan served time for helping attack the Capitol (heroic, MAGA-style), and while inside the people’s house, he tried grabbing “intel” off senators’ desks. Instead of serving his full 21-month sentence, Trump tossed him and almost all the other failed insurrectionists a “get out of jail free” card on day one of his 2nd term, because apparently consequences are for libs. And how does our pardoned patriot repay America? By texting a friend plans to kill Jeffries before a public speech. Thank goodness his friend had common sense and a conscience (unlike, say, most of Congress) and called the police.
The Pardon Problem: Pardons for Proud Boys, Threats for Democrats
Moynihan is still pleading not guilty. Can’t fix stupid, but the courts might be able to lock him away for good this time. Jeffries put it best: the “blanket pardon” crowd is already committing more crimes nationwide because when you let fascists off the hook, they don’t turn into nuns. If only Trump could pardon common sense into his supporters.
MAGA Deflections: “But the Left!”
Speaker Mike Johnson, asked if maybe—just maybe—blanket pardons are a bad idea, offered that the left is “far more violent.” Sure, dude. The left is dangerous because, what, we want everyone to have healthcare? Meanwhile, Capitol Police are staring down 14,000 threat cases this year, and surprise: it’s not because of vegan protesters.
Interview: Narconerd AI vs. Reality
Q1 (Narconerd AI): Is this just a one-off, or MAGA’s new normal?
A1: It’s a trend. Trump pardoned a whole basket of felons — and now they’re menacing democracy again. Not a glitch, a feature.
Q2: Do most pardoned Jan. 6ers relapse?
A2: Pretty much. Even Jeffries says these “criminals” (his words) are popping up coast to coast with new charges. See the summer’s crime blotter.
Q3: Why does the GOP always play “whataboutism”?
A3: They’ve got nothing else. “But the left!” is an excuse for letting actual would-be murderers roam free.
Q4: Was law enforcement on top of it?
A4: Only thanks to an anonymous tip. Don’t expect Trump’s pardoned fan club to self-report their next “plan.”
Q5: Any hope this stops?
A5: Not until we treat right-wing violence and MAGA radicalization like the threats they are—and never, ever let these people off the hook again.
