Trump is now directly threatening Indiana lawmakers that if they refuse to pass his preferred gerrymander, he’ll strip the state of federal funding. Not metaphorically, literally. His allies are publicly stating that Indiana will lose money for road repairs, major infrastructure projects will be frozen, and even National Guard bases could be shut down if the Indiana Senate doesn’t comply.
This isn’t about policy differences or budget debates. This is a president pressuring a state government by threatening to withhold federal resources that millions of people rely on, all to force through a gerrymandered map that benefits him politically.
