Thanks to everyone who called their representatives after Democratic members voted to fund ICE. Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi said on social media that he regretted voting to fund the Department of Homeland Security following the death of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis this past Saturday. Suozzi wrote that he had “failed to view the DHS funding vote as a referendum on the illegal and immoral conduct of ICE in Minneapolis,” acknowledging the intense backlash over aggressive federal immigration enforcement actions.
