Robert F. Kennedy Jr. attended the funeral of an 8-year-old who last week became only the second confirmed death from the disease in a decade. Known for his vaccine skepticism and for promoting alternative treatments like cod liver oil, vitamin A supplements, the steroid budesonide, and the antibiotic clarithromycin, Kennedy had previously downplayed the importance of vaccines. However, he recently wrote on social media that vaccination was “the most effective way to prevent the spread of measles.” It’s a relief to see him finally acknowledge the importance of the vaccine.
