Language like this implies intent and raises serious questions about premeditation and mindset on the scene. From a law enforcement and use-of-force perspective, even suggesting that someone should “learn their lesson” in the context of a violent incident is inappropriate and professionally indefensible. Federal officers and other public safety personnel are trained to de-escalate and act with clear operational purpose. Not to employ language that could be interpreted as punitive, retaliatory, or vindictive.
