Sean Patrick Duffy, born October 3, 1971, in Hayward, Wisconsin, is an American politician, attorney, and television personality. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in marketing from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and a Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law.
Duffy gained national attention in the 1990s as a cast member on MTV’s “The Real World: Boston” and its spin-off, “Road Rules: All Stars.” Transitioning to politics, he served as the district attorney of Ashland County, Wisconsin, before being elected as the U.S. Representative for Wisconsin’s 7th congressional district, serving from 2011 until his resignation in 2019 to focus on his family.
After leaving Congress, Duffy joined Fox News as a contributor and co-hosted “The Bottom Line” on Fox Business. In November 2024, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Duffy for the position of Secretary of Transportation. If confirmed, he will oversee the Department of Transportation, managing the nation’s infrastructure, including highways, railroads, and aviation systems.
Duffy is married to Rachel Campos-Duffy, a fellow reality TV alumna and current Fox News host. The couple met during their time on MTV and have nine children together.
Duffy’s nomination reflects President-elect Trump’s pattern of appointing media personalities and loyalists to key cabinet positions, emphasizing loyalty and public visibility in his selections.
