New York Attorney General Letitia James said today that her office is starting a new effort to deploy trained staff to monitor and document federal immigration enforcement operations. The initiative, known as the Legal Observation Project, will track reports of major enforcement activity statewide and, when appropriate, assign trained observers to watch and record those actions as they happen. The announcement noted that these observers will gather details that may be relevant to future legal proceedings and are directed not to interfere with or obstruct enforcement efforts.
