MY (SOMETIMES NON-TRADITIONAL) NEW YEARS EVE WEEK MOVIE COUNTDOWN: #2

When Harry Met Sally: I think this is a fantastic Christmas / New Years movie, and if you, like me, are someone who considers the Christmas / New Years week to basically be one big ball of holiday goodness, well, of course the climax of the movie takes place on New Years Eve, at a NYE party. “You’re right, you’re right, I know you’re right.”

“In 1977, college graduates Harry Burns (Billy Crystal) and Sally Albright (Meg Ryan) share a contentious car ride from Chicago to New York, during which they argue about whether men and women can ever truly be strictly platonic friends. Ten years later, Harry and Sally meet again at a bookstore, and in the company of their respective best friends, Jess (Bruno Kirby) and Marie (Carrie Fisher), attempt to stay friends without sex becoming an issue between them.”

It may surprise you to find that this isn’t #1 on the list, and that is for two reasons: 1. This isn’t a ranked list, but 2. if it *were* a ranked list, the #1 spot would still filled by the #1 movie, which is my all-time ever favourite movie (not just for New Years, but *ever*). What is it? You can guess, or you can wait until it is revealed tomorrow.

The countdown so far:

#6 The Holiday
#5 Sleepless in Seattle
#4 Forrest Gump
#3 While You Were Sleeping
#2 When Harry Met Sally
