It has now been proven that federal agents murdered Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. Video footage reviewed shows clearly that in the moments before he was shot, Pretti was not visibly brandishing a weapon and was holding a phone when agents tackled him to the ground. While federal agents were wrestling Alex to the ground early Saturday, they secured a handgun he was carrying moments before shooting him multiple times. In law-enforcement use-of-force terms, once officers have secured a suspect’s weapon, the individual is generally considered disarmed, which eliminates an imminent threat. Deadly force is legally justified only when officers perceive an immediate threat of death or serious bodily harm to themselves or others. If a firearm has already been controlled or removed, continued lethal force is characterized as unjustified deadly force, excessive force, out-of-policy use of force, or what most would call criminal homicide (manslaughter/murder). Many people (including current and former law enforcement and military) are calling this murder.
The Trump administration later attempted to use the gun he was carrying as justification because they took a legally carried handgun from Pretti’s person, but available footage and eyewitness accounts do not show him firing or threatening with it at any time. The reality is that Alex had no criminal record. He was a law-abiding citizen, legally carrying a firearm while exercising his Second Amendment constitutional right. He never used his weapon as a threat and never brandished it. Our government did not like that he was lawfully armed, so they executed him in the street to make an example of him to send a message that Americans who lawfully carry weapons and are perceived as being on the “left” can be publicly executed. The government’s account of events is a complete lie a propaganda machine running in overdrive after being denounced by even their own party. Trust your eyes.
