In its response to a federal lawsuit filed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation (seeking to halt construction of Trump’s planned new ballroom) the DOJ argued that objections to the demolition of the East Wing are “moot because the demolition has already occurred and cannot be undone.” In other words, they broke the law first and then claimed it was too late to challenge it. They further asserted that the White House ballroom project must continue for reasons of “national security”.
