A REMINDER AS TO WHY THINGS LIKE THE EPSTEIN INVESTIGATION FILES CAN’T REALLY BE COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED – A TALE IN ONE ACT

To understand why I am confident that the most.. let’s call them “interesting bits”… of the Epstein investigation files can’t be completely scrubbed, you only have to look at Signalgate.

Pete Hegseth had a chat in which he shared secret, classified information on Signal, in a Signal chat that just happened to include a silent observer: an editor with the Atlantic magazine.

Now, ole Pete had the Signal chat-disappearing function set to disappear the chat after a certain period of time. Which it did.

Then came the investigation, with Hegseth *refusing* to be interviewed, sending a simple, useless, written statement instead. After all, who was going to refute it? There was no proof, because he’d set the chat message to “disappear to erase all evidence that I did such a blindingly stupid thing as to talk about upcoming military strikes using a commercial, unapproved app.”

So he had destroyed the evidence. Or so he thought.

Except: Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg had *screenshot the chat*.

Remember, boys and girls, nothing is ever *really* gone on the Internet.

And that, I am confident, includes unredacted versions of the Epstein investigation files.
