Two-thirds of National Park Service employees have been furloughed during the ongoing government shutdown, worsening an already severe staffing shortage. With limited personnel remaining, essential maintenance, law enforcement, and visitor services are significantly reduced. Please note during the shutdown, any facilities or areas typically locked or secured after business hours (such as visitor centers, restrooms, and gated parking lots) will remain closed.

While many outdoor areas remain accessible, visitors should be aware that trash collection, emergency response, and resource protection may be delayed or unavailable. Please do your part to protect these spaces, leave no trace, pack out all trash, stay on established trails, and avoid disturbing wildlife. Small acts of care from visitors help keep our parks safe, clean, and protected.
