It’s clear that neither Congress nor the Supreme Court will stop Trump from illegally using the military against his own people. Many warn this obsession is already weakening the country, while real foreign threats grow, he fixates on imaginary ones, lashing out at anyone who dares criticize him. He even called for using “full force” to quell protests. Might we ask what does “full force” even mean? Live rounds against your own people? In Portland, things have been peaceful and local law enforcement handles incidents when they arise. The Posse Comitatus Act exists for a reason: the military doesn’t police civilians, that’s the role of the police. Trump will keep deploying the National Guard into new cities, but that doesn’t mean he’s in control. In fact, the more he deploys, the more disorder he creates. Let them continue their “gardening.” The kind of control he craves is impossible. Every day the resistance grows stronger. And remember freedom is something they can never take away, no matter what they tell you.
