The Social Security Administration official who exposed that the Department of Government Efficiency had left millions of Americans’ personal data vulnerable says he has been forced to resign due to retaliation. Charles Borges, who served as the SSA’s chief data officer, told colleagues in an email Friday that he was submitting what he called an “involuntary resignation.” He explained that ever since his whistleblower complaint became public, the agency’s actions against him amounted to retaliation that ultimately drove him out of his position.
