  • Location: About 215 miles SSE of Cape Hatteras, NC; 485 miles W of Bermuda
  • Movement: North at 16 mph
  • Maximum Sustained Winds: 110 mph (Category 2)
  • Hurricane-force winds: Extend outward up to 105 miles from the center
  • Tropical-storm-force winds: Extend outward up to 265 miles

  • Surf: Life-threatening surf and rip currents along the U.S. East Coast, Bahamas, Bermuda, and Atlantic Canada.
  • Storm Surge: 2–4 ft possible from Cape Lookout to Duck, NC, with large and dangerous waves and significant beach erosion.
  • Rainfall: Outer bands may bring up to 1 inch of rain to the Outer Banks tonight into Thursday.

Forecast

Erin is expected to turn north-northeast, then accelerate northeast and east-northeast, passing between the U.S. East Coast and Bermuda, then south of Atlantic Canada. Some slight strengthening possible, but weakening expected by Thursday night or Friday as Erin moves over colder waters and encounters wind shear. Erin is forecast to remain a hurricane into the weekend.
