More bad news! A federal appeals court has cleared the Trump administration to push forward with plans to gut the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, overturning a lower court’s attempt to halt mass layoffs. In a 2–1 decision, the D.C. Circuit ruled that U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson lacked authority to block the administration’s move to lay off roughly 1,500 of the agency’s 1,700 employees. The majority opinion was written by Judge Gregory G. Katsas, a Trump appointee.
