Trump administration petitioned the Supreme Court to halt a federal judge’s ruling that restricts immigration agents from conducting broad, suspicion-less stops in the Los Angeles region. U.S. District Judge Maame E. Frimpong, who presides over California’s Central District, barred agents from using certain characteristics, whether individually or combined, as the sole basis for stopping and questioning someone. In effect, the order prohibits racial profiling within her jurisdiction.
