The redistricting battle in Texas is intensifying, as Republican Governor Greg Abbott targets Democratic lawmakers who have left the state in protest. Their absence is preventing the Republican-controlled House from reaching a quorum to pass new redistricting legislation. Abbott has responded with threats to either remove them from office or deploy law enforcement to bring them back. A total of 57 out of 62 Democratic representatives have left, effectively stalling the GOP’s plan by staying out of state.
