The Trump administration handed over the immigration status of millions of Medicaid enrollees to deportation officials, data that could be used to locate and remove people as part of his sweeping crackdown. Federal law, including the Social Security Act and the Privacy Act of 1974, strictly limits how personal health information can be used.
