The Trump administration is deporting people in direct violation of court orders…

The Trump administration is deporting people in direct violation of court orders, and calling it an “administrative error.” That’s not just unacceptable. It’s unconstitutional.

Jordin Melgar-Salmeron, a 31-year-old Salvadoran man, was deported minutes after a federal appeals court explicitly barred his removal while his case proceeded. The plane didn’t take off until 28 minutes after the court issued its stay. The administration had even promised the court he wouldn’t be deported until the next day. But they did it anyway.

Now they’re claiming the process had “already started” and blame a “confluence of administrative errors.” That excuse doesn’t hold water, not when a person’s rights and future are on the line.

Everyone, regardless of immigration status, is entitled to due process. Deporting people in defiance of court orders is not a mistake. It’s a pattern. This isn’t the first time, and it won’t be the last unless we stop it.

Justice doesn’t work when the government decides which orders to follow. Due process is not optional.
