Musk staffer Conor Fennessy drafted a list targeting dozens of National Park Service grants for elimination including several aimed at protecting public lands from climate change. Among the cuts proposed by DOGE: eliminating the Scientists in Parks program, which places students and early-career scientists at parks to help protect ecosystems; slashing a $67,000 climate resiliency study near Golden Gate National Recreation Area; ending a $223,000 study of climate change impacts on Alaska’s glaciers; defunding watershed protection efforts nationwide; and canceling a $220,000 project to safeguard the ancient Native American campus mounds at Louisiana State University. For perspective, one of Trump’s golf weekends costs more than all of this combined.
