The American Association of University Professors and other groups will ask a federal judge in Massachusetts to block the Trump administration’s revocation of visas and detention of noncitizen students and scholars nationwide. The lawsuit follows a wave of over 1,000 visa cancellations in recent weeks many triggered by minor traffic violations or no clear reason at all. Court filings describe the fallout: dozens of individual lawsuits, students racing to preserve their legal status, and the looming threat of losing degrees or years of research progress.
