More details: ICE is working to track down a list of immigrants the Trump administration has deemed “illegally” present in the US. To assist in that crackdown, ICE — in coordination with DOGE — is asking the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to run Social Security numbers against the Medicare claims database to uncover individuals’ addresses.
This is absurd—Medicare, the federal health insurance program for people 65 and older, individuals with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups, doesn’t even cover undocumented immigrants. The key phrase here is “who the Trump administration deems illegal.”
