As Americans, we demand proof that Kilmar Abrego Garcia—the man being held in El Salvador after the Trump administration disappeared him—is safe and unharmed. We know the prison where he’s being held is notorious for human rights violations.
The U.S. government arrested him, removed him from the country, handed him over to a foreign prison, and then left him there. “By mistake”.
This isn’t just a bureaucratic failure. This is state violence. This is what it means to disappear someone: to erase their rights, remove them from their home, and abandon them to a foreign system with no accountability and no due process.
This kind of mistake is a threat to us all. If it can happen to Kilmar, who’s next?
