Tropical Depression 14

Tropical Depression Fourteen is currently located in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico, moving slowly north-northeast at 3 mph with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph. It is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm later today and potentially become a hurricane by early Monday, with further intensification into a major hurricane possible as it moves across the central and eastern Gulf. The system is forecasted to approach Florida’s west coast by midweek. No coastal watches or warnings are currently in effect, but interests in the Yucatan Peninsula, Florida Peninsula, Keys, and northwestern Bahamas should monitor the system, with hurricane and storm surge watches likely for Florida by Sunday. The system could bring heavy rainfall and flooding risks to northern Yucatan, western Cuba, and Florida, with dangerous swells affecting Gulf Coast areas. The next advisory will be issued at 4 PM CDT.
