The Storm Prediction Center has issued a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms for parts of the Northern Rockies, Great Basin, and adjacent High Plains for the period from 20:00 UTC on September 3, 2024, to 12:00 UTC on September 4, 2024. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop in these areas and pose a risk of isolated severe weather, including marginally severe hail and locally severe gusts. The storms are forming ahead of a midlevel low moving eastward across central Idaho, and they will continue to spread east-northeastward. A focused corridor of severe-wind potential is possible from northwest Wyoming into southwest and south-central Montana, though confidence in the development of an organized cold pool remains low. No changes were made to the previous forecast with this update.
