ransomware on android phone

Having my first experience with this “virus” on someones cell phone trying to fix it. Looks something like this

This is what I have done so far, managed to get into safe mode on this phone, its an htc thunderbolt. safe mode is done by pushing the volume control down button on the little thunderbolt screen. I was getting frustrated and started writing this blog post to document what I’m doing since this thing is a pain in the ass

July 10, 2014 12:19 PM Managed to get Avast ransom ware remover on starting it

July 10, 2014 12:22 PM Well that failed, i restarted the phone and unlocked screen and started avast ransom ware remover, the “virus” overlapped the scanner and never let me see it again. While this virus screen is on i can’t use any button and i can’t even swipe the top to go down.

July 10, 2014 5:30 PM ran this program called The HTC Thunderbolt Tool! and its saying the phone is already rooted, just missing the superuser binary, error or fact I am not sure, will keep trying.

July 10, 2014 5:57 PM phone finally died so now I’m having to recharge it, I have some new things to try to test out.

Taking a break playing some GTA V

July 11, 2014 1:07 AM Damn just read something that makes me sad. I might not be able to save this phone. the variant it has is called Svpeng ransom ware and there is no fix for it, except to format the phone. I am still looking into other other options.

July 11, 2014 1:44 PM something had to break either me or this trojan, and the trojan is winning. Android unrooted is damn near impossible to get this bastard off it. I can’t even start the process of rooting this damn phone cause something won’t let me push the required files to using adb

This thing is not a virus its a damn trojan,

July 11, 2014 5:00 PM Factory reset the phone, it was the only choice I had left.

They picked it up at 7 pm and I gave them some advice.
